Every baby is different, but most babies should be able to hold their head up by 5 months.

My Son will be 5 months in 2 days, and he will sit up by himself for a few seconds, and then he will start to lean to the left or right. Im sure by 6 months he will be able to fully sit up by himself. Every child is different and develops at a different age, so there is not real set time.

my daughter can sit by leaning on her hand, lean forward around 5-6 month.
By really sit without support and straight, around 8 month, happened a week ago.
But she’s crawling at 6 month, so she was busy crawling than sitting.
Now she learn to sit from stomach position.

If you are asking about a baby being able to hold his head up, my son was doing that before we left the hospital. And since about 1 month I can sit him on my knees in front of me and hold him around the waist and he holds himself up. But every baby is different.

Average is 5 months, but every baby is different. don’t expect much at 2 months. My 2 month old can hold his own head up when I’m holding him for the most part, but lets it fall when he’s sleepy. He certainly could not hold it up sitting unassisted.

sit unaided would be around 6 months and to sit supported would be around 3-4 months

  • Briana says:
